Preparation

  1. First boil as much water as recommended on the packet. It’s best to add another 100 ml of water.

  2. Whilst the water is boiling, prepare the vegetables and chop them into bite-sized chunks.

  3. The ingredients, that cook quickly should be added first to the boiling water. After that add the Ramen block and cook per instructions on the packet. Eg. => cabbage => bacon => corn => noodles.

  4. Add the spice mix that comes with the Ramen packet at the end and stir.

  5. The quick and affordable 2 Dollars Ramen dish is ready

  6. Enjoy your meal. One last tip. The Ramen should be eaten within 5-10 minutes after preparing it. Otherwise the noodles will absorb all the water and won’t taste nice. This also applies when eating it in a restaurant. I actually don’t have to tell you that as you’ll have finished your Ramen after 2 minutes already.

Well then, let me show you a yummy and affordable 2 Dollar recipe today. The main ingredient, as the name already reveals is a packet of Instant Ramen.  You can find a packet of Instant Ramen in most supermarkets for as little as 40 Cent. I recommend the brand Nissin, which belongs to a Japanese manufacturer. These days you can basically get Instant Ramen everywhere, even at discounter stores. Since Ramen is so popular, I thought I develop a recipe for you.

It was important to me that the recipe consists of ingredients, that are easily available at every German supermarket. The variety is huge and the possibilities on preparing the Instant Ramen are endless. That’s why I rather give you a guideline and ingredients that are suitable for Instant Ramen, than a detailed recipe. It’s up to you which ingredients will be used. Please see the following list with ingredients that go really well with the Nissin Ramen.

In order not to go over the 2 Dollar mark, I compiled a list with cheap ingredients. If you want to budget more money, I recommend ingredients such as bacon or thin beef.

These ingredients are perfect for your DIY Ramen Soup

It’s best to combine a maximum of three ingredients. Otherwise there are too many flavours in the Ramen. This doesn’t apply for spring onions, chives and beansprouts. The recommended Instant Ramen from Nissin are available for as little as 40-70 Cent from most supermarkets. In case you can’t find Instant Ramen in your area, you can order them from Amazon.

    • Corn
    • Ham
    • Bacon
    • Sweetheart cabbage
    • Spring onions
    • BeanSprouts
    • Chives
    • Sugar peas
    • Eggs
    • Vegetable oil (instead of the cheap included oil)

In case you find a small packet of oil with your Ramen packet, I highly recommend substituting it with normal vegetable oil (canola or sunflower oil). In case you’ve got sesame seed oil at home, I recommend using that for the preparation. The oil found in the Ramen packets often contains palm oil, which is demonstrably unhealthy. Have you got additional ingredients, that are perfect with Instant Ramen? I’m happy to update the list with your recommendations
